Workflow ---- Cool but can I run it on my workstation? I'm a fool to do your dirty work ...
You're afraid to pay the fee - so you find yourself somebody who can do the job for free. That is what workflow is all about. I have been working with CRM workflow recently to automatically generate e-mails when Infuse creates Quotes or specific Solomon Orders for customers.
I have one client set up to create Quotes from Solomon in CRM. When these special quotes come into CRM, it is assigned to a specific rep, an email is sent to the customer, and then a set of follow-up tasks are assigned to the rep in CRM.
Another configuration is for a company that sends samples of their product out to customers. When this happens, Solomon creates a $0 invoice with a particular order type. We have tuned the CRM workflow for these Sample Orders. So, workflow sends an e-mail out a week after the product ships. Based on the specific products and value of the potential opportunity, it assigns tasks to product managers to follow-up within a week or so. Very Cool stuff.
But I want to run it from my administrator's desktop. I don't want to log into the CRM server everytime I want to change something. Plus, I have managers that own the processes who need to stop, start, and change, and tweek the workflow. How can I run workflow from a workstation? Here are the magic files you need — just copy them into a folder on the workstation and you can click to run.
Microsoft.Crm.dll
Microsoft.Crm.Platform.Proxy.dll (located on CD only)
Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WorkflowLibrary.dll
Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WorkflowManager.exe
Microsoft.Crm.Tools.WorkflowMonitor.exe
WorkflowManager.chm
Workflowmonitor.chm
Once these are located in a directoy on your local machine, you should be able to click workflowmanager.exe and zoom — you are off and running.
