SF.COM and the Integration Problem


All is not well in the magic world of Marc Benioff. ("It is not software")  He is burning his bridges right and left. I ran across this article where analysts are pointing out that the lack of integration is going to kill sf.com.  

"My prognostication is about Salesforce.com, and here goes: Salesforce.com is the next Siebel, the next CRM has-been, the next low-priced software buyout opportunity, unless somehow the company gets sold before its stock begins to tank or it engineers a remarkable turnaround from its current moribund strategy. It may take a couple of years, and there may be some big blockbuster announcements and a couple of good quarters in the interim, but it’s gonna happen, and it’s gonna be ugly."

The deep integration story is one that we can tell. We find that customers are looking to have not just a basic account-level integration, but also integration with workflow, orders, products, invoices... a real integration. The light integration that they are currently offering is putting SF.Com in the position of being too easy to replace.  Read More
