It's a very good idea for you to get a point of reference for the other CRM apps on the market. This website has demos for SAP, Oracle, and SF.com.

Clearly there are only few -worthy of mentioning- CRM players on the market. If your company has the money and resources and wishes to purchase a traditional installed solution, head to Oracle or SAP. If your cash and resources are limitless, then choose an on-demand CRM solution from Slesforce.com, Netsuite or Salesboom.com.

If you can't afford either, then you own a one-man-show or your business is going bankrupt soon!

      Tom,

I love your blog.  You have a good humor about you and you feel the same about Marc Brannoff that I do, and inflated windbag that is making it up as he goes along.   Which I like.   When we consider the cost of SAS it is interesting to note the opportunity cost related to the speed at which you can launch a workable CRM solution for a sales team.  For less than the cost of the monthly cell phone bill for most reps a sale manager can approve a CRM system without the need to go thru traditional IT approval. I see this as a huge benefit to the sales manager.  But also a huge pain in the keester for the IT manager that is trying to own the user experience of the organizaiton.  As a consultant I find this an interesting delema to review.  Additionally, as you might be aware I have had extensive experience integrating CRM with back office applicaitons.  The tools that make that work currently need to have a great network connection.  We are now starting to see that change with the advent of CRM live and we are testing these connections out now.  It is very impressive to see what MSFT is doing to make this work.   Their developers are very committed to this model and we can see them be responsive to our feature reuests.

Thanks for your readership and I hope to hear from you again.

      Good luck and good blog!
