Ax of Choice

I have gotten several queries as to what instrument I play at church - http://www.riversideministries.org.  So I thought I would give you a peek at the rig: This is an old picture but none the less there I am actually playing the piano.

This is a picture of me "Tickling the Ivories" from the church website.

Main Ax is: RX-3 Grand Piano - This is a 5'5" grand piano.  It is really a baby grand because of the crossover. I have loved this piano for many years; it is hard to believe that it is 25 years old.  It was in storage for about 8 of those years. It is ebony black, like pictured.  It is bright, with a beautiful scalloped keyboard which is perfect for the style I like to play.  I toss in too many glisandos during each service, during some songs I literally am pounding the keys with my arm, I call that technique the "Pierre Pound".   I have a heavy hand so I have recently had many broken strings as they have aged, but she has been forgiving.  I have a great Piano Technican, Virgile Bartman.

Mixer:  Beringer XENYX 802

Mic: Electro-Voice N/D468 Dynamic Supercardioid Instrument internally.

We are also playing with Kurzweil RG100

And a Alesis NanoPiano Sound Module-  I am using this hooked up to the Kerzweil via midi for some layering of sounds under piano.

I have been without a real synth for about a year.  I have played a Roland XP-80 for many years.

It was loaded with Keyboards of the 70's and 80's. SFX patches, and Orchestra Board. It rocked!  We had a change in the line up so it just didn't work for us any more. I would love to get it back.  We just upgraded the sound system so it would now work much better.   I have been looking a getting a Yamaha MM6.  Just looked at it yesterday and that is going to the front of the line, it sounds great and is very portable, and will fit right on top of the Kawai.

Pierre is currently rockin' to " Be Lifted [Live]" By: David Crowder Band - on the  B Collision album.
